Much persistence and a stroke of luck allowed me to photograph these beautiful humpback whales, a mother and baby. While in Hawaii, every day I would take a stand up paddle board far out and hope for the best, but things didn't quite line up year after year. Finally, this mother and baby whale were curious enough to swim right in front of me, just about 50 feet away. Experience of a lifetime!
